Abstract

In this paper, the modern trends in the development of multiport dc-dc converters are pointed out and studied. Due to the high demand for measures to overcome environmental challenges and reduce risks related to energy shortage renewable energy sources becoming very essential to address all these issues. Nevertheless, the direct integration of renewable energy sources into the microgrid system has some problems, such as voltage synchronization, protection, etc. Diverse power converter technologies can be implemented to solve these issues. Among them, the multiport converters play an important role in the hybrid renewable energy systems. The main characteristics, classifications and topologies of multiport converters are presented and identified.
