The T2T genome assembly of soybean cultivar ZH13 and its epigenetic landscapes

Abstract

Soybean is a crucial source of protein for both humans and livestock and a vital oilseed crop. In 2010, the Department of Energy Joint Genome Institute released the first version of the soybean cultivar genome Williams 82 (Schmutz et al., 2010). Since then, numerous soybean genomes have been assembled and annotated, including wild species, cultivars, landraces, and pan-genomic assemblies (Shen et al., 2018; Xie et al., 2019; Liu et al., 2020). The Chinese soybean cultivar “Zhonghuang 13” (ZH13), which is widely used in China for its high yield and stress resistance, represents a genetic signature of Asian soybean and is the most complete soybean genome assembled using third-generation sequencing technology (Shen et al., 2019).
