Abstract

The main objective of this research paper is to investigate the thermal efficiency of the steam turbine blades made up of Inconel 718 compare to the conventional 17-4Ph Stainless Steel grade. Turbine blades are subjected to extreme temperature circumstances inside a steam turbine during operation. Inconel's high-temperature strength is developed by solid solution strengthening or precipitation hardening, depending on the alloy. Inconel retains strength over a wide temperature range, attractive for high-temperature applications where aluminum and steel would succumb to creep as a result of thermally induced crystal vacancies. A study has been made on the performance evaluation of the steam turbine blades and also with the help of Ansys workbench, the thermal and static structural analysis is carried out by considering the heat boundary conditions to optimize for better functioning of the steam turbine blades in extreme temperature conditions.
