Abstract

We report a novel complex polyhalide family (A2TeBr6I2), containing [TeBr6]2− octahedra interconnected by I2 bridge-molecules via halogen bonding. They are narrow bandgap semiconductors, show strong photoresponse and are easily synthesized from aqueous solution.
