Abstract
The past 35 years has witnessed the discovery of 0D fullerenes to 1D carbon nanotubes, 2D graphene, and graphdiyne, which constitute the mainstream for carbon nanomaterials. With the unique accessible large interior cavity and abundant defects, together with the common advantages of nanocarbons, carbon-based nanocages are becoming a new platform for advanced energy storage and conversion, which is reviewed by Zheng Hu and co-workers in article number 1904177.
