Fluorescence by self-assembly: autofluorescent peptide vesicles and fibers

Abstract
We have designed and synthesized self-assembling cysteinyl peptides that form autofluorescent vesicles and fibers. Autofluorescence is an emergent property, resulting from the clustering of carbonyl chromophores. The vesicles were shown to act as a host for C 60 .
