Abstract

ABSTRACT Polymer composites are widely used in industrial and medical applications. Due to light weight, good mechanical, thermal, and tribological properties, polymer composites are extensively employed in automobile, aircraft parts, artificial human bone structure, and civil applications. This article aims to give an overview of the fundamental concepts and characteristics of polymer composite materials. It also illustrates different fibers and ceramic particles used in the polymer matrix. It also describes the percentage of fillers and the polymer matrix utilized in earlier works. It also discusses how various filler ratios affect the polymer matrix composite. The extensive mechanical, tribological, and physical behaviors of polymer matrix composites are depicted in this article. It has been found that fiber‐filled polymer composites show a good impact on the various properties (physical, mechanical, and tribological).
