Abstract

Nowadays, there are persistent trends toward closer interconnections between various energy system types (primarily, electricity, gas, heat, and cooling systems) and the establishment of integrated energy systems. More and more scientific works are concerned with the study of these systems. This paper focuses on state-of-the-art research on two important groups of problems to be solved during the operation of integrated energy system—energy management and expansion planning. The content of these problems is described. Findings of an analysis of the publication activity on the research of integrated energy systems are presented. An overview of current scientific publications addressing modern approaches to solving the selected problems of the considered systems is given. The conclusions based on the presented analysis of the works characterize the current state of research in the area in question.
