Abstract

With growing urban areas and industrial development, the requirements for wastewater treatment plants are increasing. Modeling of wastewater treatment plants allows to understand the internal behavior of the process, to propose appropriate improvements to parts or entire technological facilities before its construction. It also supports control design and testing without destroying real equipment. This article presents a short review of the modeling of individual parts of wastewater treatment plants, which are necessary for a sufficiently accurate capture of biological and physical processes. In addition to analytical models, the article mentions alternative modeling methods such as neural networks.
