Abstract

Renewable energy sources are widely employed on the distribution network grid to fulfil the rising demand for electrical energy and to alleviate the global warming catastrophe caused due to conventional energy sources. As a result, the use of dispersed energy sources is increasing. By virtue of low carbon emissions, high efficiency and high-power quality in the electrical power system, the distributed system benefits from having a high penetration of distributed generating resources. Unintentional islanding happens when the main utility's power supply is interrupted due to various factors, yet the distribution network's power supply is maintained by DG. And it is one of the primary challenges with these Distributed generators (DG) system integrations. To minimize harm to the electrical equipment, grid protection interference, and human safety issues, efficient islanding detection and fast detachment of DG are essential. Several investigations have been undertaken in order to minimize the difficulty of detecting islanding. With a brief overview, this paper provides a outlined evaluation of several Modern Islanding Detection Techniques (IDTs), covering both signal processing & intelligent IDTs.
