Abstract

This work proposed the ox-LDL-CD80 + monocyte/macrophage-CD1d-NKT cell-IFN-γ axis in the progression of atherosclerosis. The proinflammatory IFN-γ + NKT cells are closely related to CD1d + CD80 + monocytes in hyperlipidemic patients. Inhibiting CD80 + macrophages to present lipid antigens to NKT cells through CD1d blocking may be a new therapeutic target for atherosclerosis.
