Abstract
• The global satellite broadband policies directly impact the much-debated right to Internet access and the future-oriented Internet governance agenda. • The international nature of space connectivity necessitates global governance anchored in international law. • Developing countries have a legitimate interest in participating in global governance processes that shape norms and policies for satellite broadband. • Equitable access principle in international telecommunications law and outer space law justify the developing countries' right to demand fair terms of access to satellite broadband. • Promoting terms of equitable access based on universal and meaningful connectvitiy principles will foster understanding among stakeholders and ensure policy and regulatory coherence.
