Abstract

Multispectral camouflage is critical for countering advanced intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) systems. However, existing strategies often suffer from spectral crosstalk and inadequate environmental adaptability. Here, a Fabry-Pérot (F-P) matching lossy metasurface is presented, which realizes coordinated mechanisms of visible-infrared adaptive camouflage and ultra-broadband microwave absorption. A reconfigurable camouflage pixel layer (CPL) atop the F-P cavity adaptively matches pixelized patterns to woodland, oceanic, and mountain environments. In infrared, the integrated system precisely modulates radiative signatures, matching a 36 °C target to sandy gravel surroundings under varying solar illumination and limiting thermal contrasts below 3.2 °C in ambient conditions. Simultaneously, the F-P cavity is coupled with a dual-layer patterned indium tin oxide/composite absorber, and the broadest effective absorption band in the multispectral camouflage (< -10 dB from 5.7 to 73.2 GHz), covering six radar bands. The structure further exhibits integrated flexibility, polarization insensitivity, and angular stability across the visible, infrared, and microwave regimes, showing strong potential for portable, field-deployable multispectral camouflage applications on power-equipped ground platforms such as armored vehicles and mobile command units.
