Abstract

Abstract An analytical model is developed to obtain qualitatively and semiquantitatively estimate the changes in the integral pore size during the oxidation of heterophase materials. The model is tested on studying the oxidation of CCCM with a pyrocarbon matrix at 600°C up to a mass loss of 75 wt %. The change in the pore size is analyzed to quantify the structural degradation of the composite.
