Abstract
Remotely sensed data acquired in or converted to digital format are most often subject to analyses and information extraction using image-processing techniques developed over the past 50 years. The process encompasses a myriad of algorithms that an analyst can apply to get meaningful information from an image. This chapter describes some of the basic image processing methods applied to remotely sensed data.
