Abstract
As the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic continues to affect the country's economic, political, social, and health care systems, it now appears to be disrupting the relationship between hospitals and nurses. Sharp decreases in revenues from curtailed diagnostic procedures and elective admissions led some hospitals and private medical practices to furlough nurses. From the perspective of many nurses, however, being furloughed was a reprehensible way to be treated.
