Abstract

This review is an attempt to describe distinctive ability of condensation polymer to form nanocomposites. Zero-dimensional nanocarbon nanomaterials including fullerene, carbon nano-onion, and nanodiamond are unique and promising nanofillers for polymers. Owing to nano-size, high aspect ratio, and intrinsic properties, zero-dimensional nanocarbon nanofillers have improved nanocomposite characteristics. The article introduces variety of condensation polymer/zero-dimensional nanocarbon nanocomposites using polyamide, polyester, polyimide, and polycarbonate matrices. The condensation polymer/zero-dimensional nanocarbon nanocomposite properties have been compared with polyurethane/zero-dimensional nanocarbon nanocomposite. The condensation polymer/zero-dimensional nanocarbon nanocomposites have been employed in advanced hybrid materials for eco-friendly material, aerospace, automotive, coating, adhesive, membrane, packaging, and biomedical applications.
