Abstract

Many 1,4-dihydropyridines hybrid with 1,2,4-triazole 4a-l were synthesized by the reaction of 5,5′-(2,6-dimethyl-4-phenyl-1,4-dihydropyridine-3,5-diyl)bis(4-amino-4H-1,2,4-triazole-3-thiol) (2) with various substituted aldehydes. The target compounds 4 were cyclized using bromine in acetic acid to give 1,4-dihydropyridine-bis-triazolothiadiazoles hybrid derivatives 8a-f. The chemical structure of the newly synthesized derivatives was examined by elemental and spectral analysis (IR, NMR, and MS). The antimicrobial activity of the synthesized hybrids was assessed using the Agar diffusion well method. The obtained results indicated that many derivatives have more effective inhibition than Amphotericin B, Ampicillin, and Gentamicin.
