Promoting Open Science Through Research Data Management
John Borghi, Ana E. Van Gulick
Abstract
Data management, which encompasses activities and strategies related to the storage, organization, and description of data and other research materials, helps ensure the usability of data setsâboth for the original research team and for others. For librarians and other service providers, describing data management as an integral part of a research process or workflow may help contextualize the importance of related resources, practices, and concepts for researchers who may be less familiar with them. Because data management practices and strategies overlap with those related to research reproducibility and open science, presenting these concepts together may help researchers realize their benefit at the laboratory level.
