Abstract

. The degradation behavior of PAHs by HOCl oxidation was investigated in detail. Parameters including chlorine dosage, pH and temperature that had effects on the degradation process were evaluated systematically. The removal of PAHs was followed well with the pseudo-first-order kinetic model. It is found that HOCl and OH˙ were major contributors to the degradation products of chlorinated and oxygenated PAHs. This research provided an easy-operating and energy-saving way to realize the remediation of PAHs contaminated industrial soil practically with high efficiency.
