Abstract
The evolution of scientific direction devoted to vortex heat transfer enhancement on the energy-efficient surfaces structured by dimples is reviewed. The discovered phenomenon of anomalous intensification of separation flow and heat transfer in inclined grooves with spherical edge lines related to the interference between the windward side of jet flow entering the groove that interacts with the self-organizing tornado-like vortex is discussed. A particular attention is focused on the experimental confirmation of extraordinary static pressure drops inside the exit part of groove revealed numerically and acceleration of the near–wall flow above the exit to the velocities which are half as much than the maximum velocity in the plane-parallel channel.
