Abstract
Lithium-ion batteries are dominating in the EV industry because of its high-density properties which also makes it suitable in EV applications. Concerns about the safety of batteries urges the need for charge equalization in batteries which will prevent the overcharging and over discharging of cells. This paper analyzes effective charge equalization and its performance using flyback and push-pull converter for active cell balancing of Li-ion battery pack. The cell stack is modeled and charge equalization technique based on the performance of the suitable converter is developed and validated using MATLAB/Simulink. Based on the performance of the suitable converter, it states that the active cell balancing method deployed with push-pull converter is thus, an efficient option for active cell balancing in a Lithium-ion battery pack.
