Abstract
This study offers a microstrip fed two-element slot loaded MIMO antenna with wide impedance characteristics for 5G millimeter wave applications. The proposed design is operated at frequency range of (30GHz to 40GHz). The antenna is made up of two identical ‘Y’ shaped radiating elements that are positioned on the same substrate and have a 10 mm face to face space between them. Both elements are mounted on a rectangular Rogers’s RT5880 substrate with the specified dimensions of $(39mm\times 3lmm\times 0.8mm)$. CST microwave studio has successfully simulated and analyzed the proposed MIMO antenna. According to simulation results, the proposed MIMO antenna has a wide 10-dB impedance bandwidth at (30.2GHz to 40GHz) and more than 25dB isolation across the whole band. Furthermore, the antenna exhibits good MIMO results in terms of current distribution, gain, envelope correlation coefficient and diversity gain. The proposed antenna is suitable for 5G wireless applications at the 5G millimeter-wave range.
