Abstract
Dairy wastewater in the literature has been treated using different electrochemical methods, but none of them applied a simultaneous hybrid electrocoagulation-electrooxidation (EC-EO) system. In this study, a hybrid EC-EO process was tested for its efficiency on COD and turbidity removal. Mainly the monopolar and bipolar connections using iron, aluminum, and oxidized titanium as electrode materials were tested within the EC-EO system. The results obtained showed better COD removal efficiency for the bipolar connection mode. However, low metal dissolution levels were registered for the monopolar connection mode. Besides, the bipolar connection mode was found to cost higher than the monopolar one.
