Abstract

We report a spatiotemporal mode-locked multimode fiber laser, which relies on spatial beam self-cleaning via the nonlinear Kerr effect to attain high pulse energy with near Gaussian output beam shape. Single and multiple pulses with switchable central wavelengths have been obtained. Moreover, it is found that the beam self-cleaning behavior observed at different wavelengths has distinct threshold. The experimental results are valuable to the dynamic characteristics of spatiotemporal mode-locked multimode fiber laser, making them much more accessible for applications.
