Addendum and Corrigendum to: Phylogeny and classification of the coffee family (Rubiaceae, Gentianales): Overview and outlook [in Taxon 73(3): 673–717. 2024]

Abstract
The following is an addition to the review article “Phylogeny and classification of the coffee family (Rubiaceae, Gentianales): Overview and outlook” by S.G. Razafimandimbison & C. Rydin (in Taxon 73(3): 673–717. 2024, https://doi.org/10.1002/tax.13167). Twelve genera not included in Razafimandimbison & Rydin (2024) are added here. We further make a few corrections. • p. 681, tr. Guettardeae (Cinchoneae alliance sensu Razafimandimbison & Rydin, 2024): add Tournefortiopsis Rusby (21 species) based on Borhidi (2008), Taylor & Berger (2021), and Pérez & Alzate (2023). • p. 683, tr. Rondeletieae (Cinchoneae alliance sensu Razafimandimbison & Rydin, 2024): delete Standleya Brade. The genus was historically classified in the tribe Rondeletieae (e.g., Robbrecht, 1988) but is presently placed in the Coussareeae as delimited by Löfstrand & al. (2019) (see also Razafimandimbison & Rydin, 2024: 703). • p. 686, add: tr. Clavistigmateae (Vanguerieae alliance sensu Razafimandimbison & Rydin, 2024) and Clavistigma T.Y.Tu & P.W.Xie (1 species). This tribe and its monospecific genus were recently described by Tu & al. (2024) to accommodate Wendlandia pendula DC., which was excluded from the genus Wendlandia Bartl. ex DC. of the tribe Augusteae to render Wendlandia monophyletic. • p. 690, tr. Gardenieae (Coffeeae alliance sensu Razafimandimbison & Rydin, 2024): add Thaigardenia Sungkaew, Teerawat., Chamch. & K.M.Wong (3 species) based on Sungkaew & al. (2024). Further, delete Kutchubaea Fisch. ex DC. and Melanopsidium Colla. These genera were traditionally associated with Gardenieae (e.g., Robbrecht, 1988) but are currently classified in Cordiereae sensu Mouly & al. (2014) (see also Razafimandimbison & Rydin, 2024: 690). • p. 691, tr. Pavetteae (Coffeeae alliance sensu Razafimandimbison & Rydin, 2024): add Kindia Cheek (1 species) and Tarennella De Block (5 species) based on Cheek & al. (2018) and De Block & al. (2021), respectively. • p. 695, tr. Urophylleae (Urophylleae alliance sensu Razafimandimbison & Rydin, 2024): add Antherostele Bremek. (5 species) based on Obico & Alejandro (2012). • p. 695, tr. Lasiantheae (Perameae alliance sensu Razafimandimbison & Rydin, 2024): add Paralasianthus H.Zhu (5 species) based on Zhu (2015). • p. 697, tr. Palicoureeae (Psychotrieae alliance sensu Razafimandimbison & al., 2024): add Tromlyca Borhidi (1 species) based on Borhidi (2017). • p. 702, tr. Rubieae (Spermacoceae alliance sensu Razafimandimbison & Rydin, 2024): add Castrila Blanca, S.Ben-Menni, H.Blanca, Cueto, J.Fuentes, Ortega Oliv. & Suár.-Sant. (1 species) based on Blanca & al. (2024), and Hexaphylla (Klokov) P.Caputo & Del Guacchio (12 species) and Thliphthisa (Griseb.) P.Caputo & Del Guacchio (22 species) based on Del Guacchio & Caputo (2020). • p. 702, tr. Spermacoceae (Spermacoceae alliance sensu Razafimandimbison & Rydin, 2024): add Leonoria Nuñez Florentin & R.M.Salas (1 species) based on Nuñez Florentin & al. (2024). Further, delete Diodella Small. The genus is currently accepted as a synonym of the African-American genus Hexasepalum Bartl. ex DC. (Fader & al., 2016). These changes bring the total numbers of tribes, genera and species in the family Rubiaceae to 72, 586 and 14,181, respectively. The numbers of tribes, genera and species of the subfamily Dialypetalanthoideae are 39, 376 and 5999, and those of subfamily Rubioideae 30, 207 and 8106, respectively. The corrected numbers of genera and species in Guettardeae are 21 and 790, respectively, those of Rondeletieae are 17 and 187, Gardenieae: 63 and 643, Pavetteae: 22 and 658, Urophylleae: 6 and 256, Lasiantheae: 5 and 296, Palicoureeae: 10 and 1113, Rubieae: 17 and 1004, and Spermacoceae: 86 and 1541.
