Abstract

This highlight review describes the deoxygenative coupling of carbonyl compounds, starting with a brief historical presentation of stoichiometric reactions (McMurry coupling), then highlighting the efforts to develop catalytic reactions, and finally several examples of reactions without the use of transition metals. When available, intermolecular reactions and cross-coupling reactions of two different carbonyl compounds are highlighted.
