Effect of Business Process Management on Level of Automation and Technologies Connected to Industry 4.0

Abstract

The paper is discussing BPM (Business Process Management) which is considered as an approach promising successful business management. BPM can bring many benefits to the companies and our main intention was to study it in context of Industry 4.0. The main goal of the research was to examine the current state of Industry 4.0 technologies implementation in the context of level of BPM in selected manufacturing companies. We decided to examine companies from automotive sector as it is the key sector of the Slovak economy. Also, on the global level, automotive sector is considered as one of the most affected sectors by Industry 4.0. Our sample consisted of 53 automotive companies from Slovak Republic. Our main results are showing that BPM is positively affecting and increasing the level of automation and new technologies of Industry 4.0 implementation.
