Abstract
This paper summarizes the final stage of ongoing primary research focused on Industry 4.0 maturity models. This research focused on existing Industry 4.0 maturity models, analyzed them, and derived shared traits and common drawbacks or gaps. Additional complementary research provided answers and possible solutions to these drawbacks and gaps. The main output of the primary and complementary researches resulted in a definition of a new universal Industry 4.0 maturity model designed to be simple, unified, suitable for SMEs. However, it does not follow common approaches. Instead, it focuses on the enterprises’ development and organizational transformation. This paper presents results from a pilot study where this new Industry 4.0 Maturity Model for Small- and Middle-sized Enterprises assesses chosen manufacturing SMEs in the most advanced region in the Czech Republic.
