Performance of the Conventional Divertor in TRT

Abstract
Abstract The paper presents the first results of SOLPS4.3 modeling of the TRT divertor within the conventional paradigm: a single-null poloidal divertor with solid metal plasma-facing surfaces. It is shown that at the full plasma current of ~5 MA and heating power of 25–40 MW, one should expect no wide operational window in the parameter space, which would ensure the possibility of a comfortable, soft control of the operation of the whole machine. The key problems are the heat load of the divertor plates and compatibility with good confinement of the core plasma.
