Abstract

The main aim of the present study is to determine the optimal parameters on machining the material EN24 Steel with three different brass tools by using Micro Electrical Discharge (Micro EDM). EN24 Steel is widely used in many applications because of its hardness, easy to heat treat and tempering with minimum surface scaling. This paper investigates on EN24 steel with normal brass tool, Tin coated brass tool and cryogenic treated brass tool using Micro-EDM process. The experiment was conducted based on the Taguchi technique and studied the influence of the electrodes on the geometric parameters like overcut, taper angle and circularity. The result shows that the coated tool is the most significant effect on the geometric parameters.
