Abstract
With news on many fronts seeming to get inexorably worse, it is worth pausing to raise our glasses to celebrate some recent evidence of progress. In this issue of the Journal, Jernigan and colleagues1 report the results of a survey involving multidrug-resistant (MDR) organisms at 890 hospitals representing more than 20% of the hospitalizations in the United States in the period from 2012 through 2017. Of course, there is some bad news to go with the good.
