Abstract
The filamentous Trichodesmium is a globally prominent marine nitrogen fixer. A long-standing paradox is that the nitrogen-fixing enzyme nitrogenase is sensitive to oxygen, but Trichodesmium conducts both nitrogen fixation and oxygen-evolving photosynthesis during the daytime.
