Abstract

The aim of this project is to synthesize Pd/rGOs nanoparticles via the sol-immobilization method which is used as a photocatalyst in phenol photodegradation under the artificially visible light of irradiation. Monometallic Pd nanoparticles were supported on reduced graphene oxide nanosheets rGOs. The photodegradation rate for phenol was increased with Pd/rGOs loading from 100 to 400 mg. Only 120 min were spent to completely decompose the phenol over Pd/rGOs. The prepared Pd/rGOs is capable of totally degrading the initial high concentration to 500 µM within 360 min of the reaction time. The phenol photodegradation by Pd/rGOs is most preferred under acidic condition (pH=6) where 100% removal after 120 min of reaction has been achieved.
