Abstract

Over the last many years, due to the advancement in industries, there has been a problem with the generation of waste in huge amounts which is moving towards ecological hazard very rapidly when disposed openly. The waste generated from different industries is mainly in the form of mud or slag. There are a few industrial wastes which are generated in huge quantities and are known as blast furnace slag (BFS), red mud, copper slag, LD slag, and LD sludge. To reduce the disposal of waste for the benefit of the environment and thus society, the best way is to utilize this waste for the development of some useful material. Polymer matrix composites are a class of material which are in demand because of their applications in multiple industries. The polymer composite material has proved to be a potential material in the automobile sector to the aviation sector, from structural components to sports equipment, and even in biomedical devices. The chapter offers a detailed discussion on the combination of polymer and mentioned industrial waste used for the development of composite bodies by the scientific community along with their important findings for further research.
