Abstract

Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) sustainability has gained prominence as a framework for evaluating a company’s impact on society and the environment. In the manufacturing sector, ESG is becoming increasingly important. Smart manufacturing technology with its emphasis on data-driven decision-making and process optimization, offers a potent means to align manufacturing practices with ESG goals. Smart manufacturing technology presents a substantial opportunity for manufacturers to advance ESG sustainability across their operations. By focusing on environmental, social, and governance considerations, companies can reduce their environmental impact, improve labor conditions, and enhance responsible governance practices. While challenges exist, the long-term benefits in terms of sustainability and competitiveness make the adoption of smart manufacturing technologies a strategic imperative for manufacturers committed to ESG principles. As the manufacturing sector continues to evolve, the integration of smart manufacturing into ESG strategies will be key to achieving sustainable and responsible growth.
