Abstract

Education dedicated a virtual issue to "Investigating the Uses and Impacts of Generative Artificial Intelligence in Chemistry Education". 1 Since then, there have been significant improvements in and increased use of Generative AI (GenAI) overall.Accordingly, it is essential that we continually reassess the place of GenAI in the teaching and learning of chemistry. With this editorial, we will (1) note progress in GenAI-related scholarship since the August 2024 Virtual Issue; (2) discuss the role of value-driven priorities in decisions about the use of GenAI in educational settings; and(3) present updated editorial guidelines for manuscripts submitted to the Journal that inform readers of capabilities and applications of GenAI.
