Abstract
An acoustic spectrometer was used to obtain data on the bulk viscosity of aqueous suspensions of SiO2 and Al2O3 nanoparticles. A wide range of mass nanoparticle concentrations (from 1 to 50 wt %) and average nanoparticle sizes (from 18 to 108 nm) is considered. The attenuation coefficients and sound speed in nanosuspensions were measured in the 10–100 MHz range. The dependences of the coefficients of the dynamic and bulk viscosity of nanosuspensions on the concentration and size of nanoparticles of various materials are obtained.
