Abstract

Abstract A new series of phenytoin derivatives 4 a‐j have been designed via one‐pot three component reaction of aryl aldehyde derivatives 1 a‐j with thiosemicarbazide (2) and benzil ( 3 ) in presence of sodium alkoxide. The structure of new target phenytoin derivatives 4 a‐j was assigned on the basis of elemental and spectral data. The newly synthesized products have been screened and studied as anti‐inflammatory effectiveness compared to ibuprofen as a reference drug. It has been found that is compounds 4 b, 4 d, 4 h, 4 f and 4 j exhibit excellent anti‐inflammatory properties compere to ibuprofen.
