Abstract

Dedicated Short-Range Communications (DSRC), a vehicular wireless standard protocol is to be used for Vehicle to Everything (V2X) communications. This is also referred to as Wireless Access in Vehicular Environment (WAVE) and covered under IEEE 802.11p standard. The DSRC standard is majorly designed for automotive usage and specifically focuses on vehicle's safety systems. Majority of the road mis-happenings are due to unpredicted roads and unfocused drivers, and to win over this situation, WAVE enabled alert systems could be used, which in turn reduce risk to life and public assets to a great extent. In this paper, design and implementation of DSRC/W A VE is described. “Design and functioning of device mechanics using WAVE standard is explained with a live project using vehicle mounted unit (OBU) and road-side statically mounted component called Road Side Unit (RSU).
