Sodium ion conducting PVA/NaCMC bio poly-blend electrolyte films for energy storage device applications

Abstract
Impact of Sodium Bromide salt on the microstructural properties of Poly (Vinyl Alcohol) and Sodium salt Carboxymethyl cellulose (PVA/NaCMC:70/30) blend biopolymer electrolyte films were investigated. The films were prepared by conventional solution casting method and were subjected to UV-Visible, XRD, SEM, AC, & DC conductivity studies. Microstructural properties of PVA/NaCMC blend system got affected due to complex-formation. Amorphosity of the poly blend-system increased upon doping indicating rearrangement of polymer chain due to the interaction of Na+with the functional group of PVA/NaCMC blend system. It is found that the degree of crystallinity of the PVA/NaCMC blend films decreased upon doping, due to molecular chain disorderness that facilitates the migration of ions due to enhancement in the free volume as observed from SEM.
