Abstract

This research discusses speed control of induction motor (IM) by the V/f control strategy using 3-φ multilevel inverters. The multilevel inverter employed here is 7-, 9-, and 11-level diode clamped multilevel inverters. The V/f control system has also been modified with a fuzzy logic controller (FLC), substituting the traditional closed-loop proportional-integral (PI) controller for IM drive. The effectiveness of the IM is investigated employing various multilevel inverters (MLI) using PI and FLC. The simulation study of the induction motor using a multilevel inverter employing V/F control in the MATLAB/ Simulink software. The IM performance is monitored and the IM by measuring the total harmonic distortion (THD) value minimization.
