Abstract

A series of new hydroisocyanurates X<sub>2</sub>Y(H<sub>2</sub>C<sub>3</sub>N<sub>3</sub>O<sub>3</sub>)<sub>4</sub>·4H<sub>2</sub>O (X = K, Cs; Y = Zn, Cd) with large birefringence resulting from the π-conjugated (H<sub>2</sub>C<sub>3</sub>N<sub>3</sub>O<sub>3</sub>)<sup>−</sup>unit have been obtained.
