Abstract

The International Energy Agency (IEA) maintains Standing Groups on Emergency Questions; the Oil Market; Long-term Co-operation; and Global Energy Dialogue. The IEA works to strengthen the security of energy supplies and promote stability in world energy markets. The IEA Energy Data Centre collects, processes and disseminates statistical data and information on all aspects of the energy sector, including production, trade, consumption, prices and greenhouse gas emissions. The IEA undertakes emergency response reviews and events, publishes an Emergency Management Manual, and conducts biennial Emergency Response Exercises, to facilitate a co-ordinated response to a severe disruption in petroleum supplies. The IEA promotes international collaboration in the development of energy technology and the participation of energy industries to facilitate the application of new technologies, through effective transfer of knowledge, technology innovation and training. The IEA is financed by assessed contributions of member states, generated income and voluntary government contributions.
