Compact Null Steering Antenna With Two Parasitic Elements for Angle-of-Arrival Estimation
Jo Tamura, Hiroyuki Arai
Abstract
This letter presents a novel null steering antenna for angle-of-arrival estimation. The proposed antenna contains two dipole antennas with a conducting plane and uses a null to find direction. Unlike conventional null steering antennas, this antenna has two parasitic elements, which serve as reflectors. These reflectors contribute in providing a deep null during scanning. Simulation results show that the antenna keeps scanning the deep null, which is almost - 40 dB, from - 60° to 60°. The measured results agree well with the simulation. Wilkinson power dividers were used as the feeding circuit to verify the principle of the null pattern improvement.
