Abstract

The present review provide a brief overview of the basic aspects of molecular imprinting technology covering template molecules, functional monomers, crosslinking agents, initiators, characterization methods and application by emphasizing on the novel polymer materials. Compare to other reviews, various aspects of computational designing of imprinted polymers, carbon based nano-imprinting and stimuli-responsive imprinted polymers are highlighted here in the present review. This review comprises a critical account of the most recent developments in the field of molecular imprinting. It is directed towards a broad spectrum of readers like separation science, polymer material, synthetic, analytical and bioorganic chemists who make use of computational aspects and photoresponsive materials for specific purpose.
