Abstract
4D metamaterials with zero Poisson’s ratio, shape-memory recovery, and high energy-absorption features are introduced in the article number 2200656 by Mahdi Bodaghi and co-workers. Thermo-mechanical metamaterials are designed based on star-shaped unit-cells and fabricated by 4D printing technology. It is shown that they have great potential in energy absorbing applications like reversible shape-memory car bumpers where plastic deformations can be recovered by simply heating.
