Abstract

The aim of the present study is to investigate the static and dynamic responses of damaged curved fiber laminated plates embedded with piezoelectric sensor/actuator. The damage characterized by anisotropic damage formulation is incorporated into the FE model to represent the damaged part of the structure. It is observed that continuous change of fiber orientation in lamina makes VSCL plates less affected by this type of damage and the reduction in natural frequencies can be minimized by adjustment of fiber orientation. Further, an active feedback control approach is adopted to damp out the vibration of the smart damaged VSCL plates.
