Abstract
-bromo nitroarene derivative 11. A Suzuki-Miyaura coupling of 11 with phenylboronic acid followed by Cadogan's ring closure provided a modular approach to a carbazole ring required for a functionalized pentacyclic core of indolosesquiterpene alkaloids.
