Abstract

In this paper, a high sensitivity all-dielectric biosensor cross-polarization converter (CPC) is proposed for measuring the concentration of hemoglobin applications. A simple structure that satisfies the conditions of the magnitude and phase of reflection coefficients for cross polarization are chosen for designing the CPC. The structure consists of double-split ring combined with a rectangular strip with all-dielectric GaAs. The designed CPC achieves a high sensitivity of 3.08 THz/RIU and an excellent figure of merit (FOM) of 12.35 1/RIU over the operating frequency from 4.89 - 5.1 THz. The polarization converter provides a stable response for wide angle of incidences up to <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$60^{\circ}$</tex> which is the highest among the existing Terahertz sensing applications.
